We as Guides and Scouts have always sought to build friendships across the globe and to be advocates of peace and respecting others.
Last week this peace was violated in Europe when Ukraine was unjustifiably invaded by Russia. Sadly, the situation is still ongoing.
The Guides and Scouts of Finland strongly condemn these actions against international laws and contrary to all human rights. We give our full support to the citizens of Ukraine and the Ukrainian Scout Organization.
We will provide concrete support measures on behalf of our organization and strongly back the efforts of the entire international scout community to assist those in need.
The Guides and Scouts of Finland have decided to donate 5,000€ to the fundraiser by WOSM, raising 250,000€ in direct grants to the Ukrainian Scout Organization NOSU in support of humanitarian aid to crisis areas in Ukraine.
Scouting is a global movement with 55+ million members globally and over 2 million members in Europe. Although there are many of us – some near, some far away, we are still one. We support each other in times of crisis and work together to grow and educate for a better future. Now is the time to act and show a united front and solid support for our brothers and sisters in Ukraine.
